Why plant trees?<\/strong><\/h3>

Of the 1 billion items of clothing made each year, almost 40% of all production is never utilised. This means a dump truck of textiles waste goes straight to landfill, every second. And when you think about it, climate change is because of stuff like this. CO2 pollution occurs as part of the process of making things.<\/p>

That's why we make things differently. Your products and packaging are made from natural materials, not plastic.Every product we make is designed to be sent back to us when it is worn out - we make new products from the material we recover, so the cycle itself is renewable.<\/p>

Instead of making more things and hoping for change, we exist to change the way things are made. That's what sustainability<\/a> means to us. So why plant trees too? As we can, the better question is why would we not?<\/p>

How does the tree planting happen?<\/strong><\/h3>


To make sure our planting efforts are as effective as possible, we partner with tree-planting projects and organisations like Tree-Nation<\/a>. Most of our projects are international, where we can have the biggest impact.<\/p>

So far our partnerships have contributed to programs like the Eden Projects that have reforested large areas of Madagascar. These projects have focused on maintaining natural biodiversity and combating deforestation, working in areas where the trees are needed the most.<\/p>

Since the first Buy One Get One Tree campaign, together we've captured over 2 million kilos of CO2 by planting 44 football pitches of reforested land.<\/p>

These trees help keep the Madagascan coast line stable, diversifying and restoring the natural balance of nature, preserving the environment for native species and ecosystems. The project also offers long-term employment for the people that plant them.<\/p>

Our collective donations support a lot more than the sowing of seeds. In Madagascar, \u200bour partners are also involved with wildlife conservation, protecting endangered species like chameleons and sea-eagles. A Nature Reserve nurses injured animals back to health and protects them from poaching. Planting and protecting forests gives them safer homes to return to, countering the effects of deforestation. \u2060<\/p>

Our partners work to address reforestation through a mixture of approaches. As well as directly seeding land with native seed species, they also employ methods like creating \u2018seed bombs\u2019 which contain seeds mixed with clay, compost and soil, ready to plant when the rainy season arrives.<\/p>

After the trees are planted, protecting them is vital. Patrols and guard towers watch for fires and keep the forests from getting cut down illegally or destroyed by natural disasters.<\/p>
